Jack Frost Nipping at My Nose . . .

Hope is the things with feathersThat perches in the soulAnd sings the tune without the wordsAnd never stops at all. ~ Emily Dickinson

Careful preparation is crucial for any adventure and today I am happy to have a stocked pantry including a stash of organic cocoa to weather the bitterly, cold temperatures and light snow fall we are experiencing in north central Texas. The cups of hot chocolate are flowing freely at our house because frosty and snowy mornings require toasty mugs! I know a few of my wonderful readers across the USA are sitting in falling snow like a scene from a snow globe.  How lucky are they!

While I am in my winter hibernation mode, I am sharing a piece of art from a favorite artist of mine, Lisa Aisato a Norwegian award-winning and critically acclaimed author, illustrator, and artist. Her home and studio are located at Hvalar, Norway. Many of her artistic productions capture the joy of life and make my heart dance.

So, bundle up my dear friends ‘Tis the season to be freezin’!

  1. Brrr…Mary it is cold in NE AL but no snow in our area. Your hot cocoa idea is also mine. We had a cup earlier today. I love the artwork, I must look up the artist! Stay cozy and warm in Texas. Our low in the morning is supposed to be 9 degrees!

    1. I am captivated by this whimsical art piece of Lisa’s, and I may need to add it to my winter collection of art pieces! Beside the country of Norway is so very dear to my heart having a niece and cousins that reside in that beautiful part of our world.

      1. Oh my gosh! Not sure where you are exactly, but you and I obviously live in the same neck of the woods. I’m in a suburb north of Dallas, but I usually just say I live in the DFW area! Personally, on this 5th day of February, I can’t complain with the nice weather we’ve been having this past week. Anyway, love the art! Have a great week! Mona

      2. Welcome Mona, I’m pleased you enjoyed the artwork!
I reside near the historic town of Granbury. Not long ago I wrote about Granbury dressed out for Christmas.
Yes, our weather has been delightful including the rain, which we needed in a big way.
        All my best!

  2. Sure sounds cozy at your house, and the art is so expressive. Love it. it has been cold for us as well, and I admit to turning up the heat a little bit and snuggling up with blankets. In fact I usually only use my lap top when I travel, and here I am in my glory wishing I had a cup of your hot chocolate to make the day perfect. Have a good week Mary.

I love the artwork :). Makes me feel cheery and reminds me to enjoy the little things. We’ve been drinking so much hot cocoa here too lol, but only because my kids have been requesting them. I top it off with whip cream and sprinkles. So magical. Stay warm over there! 🙂

    1. Snow in our part of Texas is not an everyday occurrence and it’s usually melted the next day, so we delight in celebrating in it! I love the aroma of coffee but just not the taste, but cheers to you savoring a great ‘cup of joe’!!!!

  4. Oh, Mary… I love your words! “Tis the season to be freezin’ !”
It’s been pretty darn cold everywhere even here in the desert. We had temps in the 20s and our bougainvillea and lantana froze. It will come back but it makes our gardens dreary.
I am going to look up this artist… what a darling piece of art! It makes me smile!
    Stay warm sweet friend!

    1. Thanks, Nancy, for visiting! And I’m sorry to hear your plants froze in this arctic blast that is plunging across much of the states. Soon little ‘Jack Frost’ will be moved on out and before long you will have gorgeous AZ backyard blooms! 😊
      Warmest wishes!

  5. I agree about that picture, its brilliant! We have been promised lots of snow too but as we live by the coast we haven’t had much compared to some other parts of Scotland, it’s a lovely 1 C today (thats the warmest temp for today), think we are -2 or 3 later on. Cocoa please…!
