Hope is the things with feathers – That perches in the soul – And sings the tune without the words – And never stops at all. ~ Emily Dickinson
Careful preparation is crucial for any adventure and today I am happy to have a stocked pantry including a stash of organic cocoa to weather the bitterly, cold temperatures and light snow fall we are experiencing in north central Texas. The cups of hot chocolate are flowing freely at our house because frosty and snowy mornings require toasty mugs! I know a few of my wonderful readers across the USA are sitting in falling snow like a scene from a snow globe. How lucky are they!
While I am in my winter hibernation mode, I am sharing a piece of art from a favorite artist of mine, Lisa Aisato a Norwegian award-winning and critically acclaimed author, illustrator, and artist. Her home and studio are located at Hvalar, Norway. Many of her artistic productions capture the joy of life and make my heart dance.
So, bundle up my dear friends ‘Tis the season to be freezin’!
Brrr…Mary it is cold in NE AL but no snow in our area. Your hot cocoa idea is also mine. We had a cup earlier today. I love the artwork, I must look up the artist! Stay cozy and warm in Texas. Our low in the morning is supposed to be 9 degrees!

I think the sun had trouble getting out of bed this morning, but once out and about our winter wonderland melted!! However, Jack Frost is still hanging around twirling those artic temperatures through our region!!! I am sure this weather has you dreaming up your next beautiful tablescape or travel adventure!💗

Love that piece of art. We got snow dusting photos from our family members and friends who live in Texas. We made it all the way to 18 degrees today. So, yes, tis the season to be feezin! The birds were happy. Enjoy being cozy.

Oh, I like “snow dusting”, because that is what it looked like here! With 18 degrees I’m sure your bird feeders are filled to capacity!
Warm wishes to you and your family!

‘Tis the season to be freezin’! Cute. Just came back from grocery shopping and there was, of course, that one guy in shorts even though it’s in the teens outside. I guess some people don’t freeze.

Maybe the “guy in shorts” was visiting from Fairbanks, Alaska or the Antarctic and temperatures in the teens would be rather balmy to him!!! 🙂

I am captivated by this whimsical art piece of Lisa’s, and I may need to add it to my winter collection of art pieces! Beside the country of Norway is so very dear to my heart having a niece and cousins that reside in that beautiful part of our world.

Here in north central Texas snow seldom arrives and when it does it’s an event! I love the emotion in Lisa’s work.

Oh my gosh! Not sure where you are exactly, but you and I obviously live in the same neck of the woods. I’m in a suburb north of Dallas, but I usually just say I live in the DFW area! Personally, on this 5th day of February, I can’t complain with the nice weather we’ve been having this past week. Anyway, love the art! Have a great week! Mona

Welcome Mona, I’m pleased you enjoyed the artwork!
I reside near the historic town of Granbury. Not long ago I wrote about Granbury dressed out for Christmas.
Yes, our weather has been delightful including the rain, which we needed in a big way.
All my best!

Sure sounds cozy at your house, and the art is so expressive. Love it. it has been cold for us as well, and I admit to turning up the heat a little bit and snuggling up with blankets. In fact I usually only use my lap top when I travel, and here I am in my glory wishing I had a cup of your hot chocolate to make the day perfect. Have a good week Mary.

Indeed, cozy! We did bundle up and take a couple of walks in the neighborhood to visit with ‘Jack Frost’!
I’m sure the two of you have used this ‘chill time’ to plan your 2024 adventures.

Thanks Wynne, I appreciate Lisa’s vision and emotions that flows through her work! We rarely receive snow in this part of Texas so for me it is a treat!

I love the artwork :). Makes me feel cheery and reminds me to enjoy the little things. We’ve been drinking so much hot cocoa here too lol, but only because my kids have been requesting them. I top it off with whip cream and sprinkles. So magical. Stay warm over there! 🙂

Unless you live in New Zealand, where it’s rather warm. Snowy conditions are wonderful if your home is warm and toasty. Coffee’s preferred 😊

Snow in our part of Texas is not an everyday occurrence and it’s usually melted the next day, so we delight in celebrating in it! I love the aroma of coffee but just not the taste, but cheers to you savoring a great ‘cup of joe’!!!!

Our first major snowfall was in the French countryside when we were housesitting. We loved it, the house was warm, the dog walks short.

Oh, Mary… I love your words! “Tis the season to be freezin’ !”
It’s been pretty darn cold everywhere even here in the desert. We had temps in the 20s and our bougainvillea and lantana froze. It will come back but it makes our gardens dreary.
I am going to look up this artist… what a darling piece of art! It makes me smile!
Stay warm sweet friend!

Thanks, Nancy, for visiting! And I’m sorry to hear your plants froze in this arctic blast that is plunging across much of the states. Soon little ‘Jack Frost’ will be moved on out and before long you will have gorgeous AZ backyard blooms! 😊
Warmest wishes!

I agree about that picture, its brilliant! We have been promised lots of snow too but as we live by the coast we haven’t had much compared to some other parts of Scotland, it’s a lovely 1 C today (thats the warmest temp for today), think we are -2 or 3 later on. Cocoa please…!

Stay warm, Mary, and keep that hot chocolate coming! It’s nippy here too, but with just a little snow globe snow drifting down.
P.S. My FedX driver wears shorts all year long, never saw him in long pants!

We’ve also been experiencing a cold front up north in Milwaukee, and it’s been brutal. I love the art and your elements of “hygge”—slowing down, bundling up, embracing the coziness of the season thoughtfully. Sending warm, cozy thoughts your way!
